WHAT IS THE AGILE COACH CAMP DENMARK?

Agile Coach Camp Denmark is a two day gathering of people interested in everything agile. Two intense days of discussions and workshops are held as an informal Open Space Unconference. It is organised by the non-profit association “Friends of the Agile Coach Camp Denmark”. Purpose is to provide a space to expand participants knowledge and exchange ideas and experiences, find answers to tough questions or to simply “recharge the batteries”.

We invite you to the annual Agile Coach Camp in Denmark. What can you expect? A welcoming community, an opportunity to get inspired, gain knowledge and experience the hospitality of Dragør Badehotel located in beautiful Dragør close to the airport and near the sea.

WHAT IS THE AGENDA?

In an Open Space unconference it is not possible to know the agenda in advance as the topics are emerging and co-created by the participants. Each day starts with a “Market Place” where the participants pitch topics for which they would like to host a workshop. The content of the workshops is created by the people attending the workshops – be prepared to be surprised! Previous workshops have included topics as diverse as “How to handle team toxins?” and “What does neuroscience tell us about high performance teams?” with a wide range of agile tools and problem solving workshops in between.

Example of an agenda

WHAT ARE THE open space RULES?

“Whoever comes are the right people.”
“Whatever happens is the only thing that could have.”
“When it starts is the right time.”
“It’s over when it’s over.”
“If you are not learning or contributing, feel free to move to a place where you can learn or contribute.” This is also known as “The law of two feet”.

IS AGILE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?

No. Every year we have participants who are new to agile as well as very experienced coaches. What is required is that you are curious and collaborative.

IS AGILE COACH CAMP ONLY ABOUT SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT?

No. Even though many participants work within the software industry, the topics within areas like leadership, motivation, innovation and much more are often on the agenda. It all depends on the passions and knowledge of the participants. Whoever is there are the right people.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

When leaving the camp you feel inspired and energised from engaging with others in creating new ideas. You will extend your network within the agile community and you will have added new tools to your toolbox. Compared to an ordinary conference, the energy level of agile coach camps is higher. Learning through co-creation tends to make what you learn more applicable to your daily life..

WHAT CAN I BRING with me to THE EVENT?

Games, fun stuff and good session proposals.

WHAT ARE MY PARKING OPTIONS FOR GETTING TO AND FROM THE EVENT?

There is free parking at the hotel.

HOW CAN I CONTACT THE ORGANIZER WITH ANY QUESTIONS?

At accdk@goagile.dk

“Attending ACC2019 felt a bit like settling into a new home, with connections made to new people and existing connections strengthened. The emergent theme of the 2019 camp, self-care, contributed to the feeling.

Some of my take-aways were:
* Techniques for self-management and self-coaching: personal daily stand-up to make room for self reflection, techniques for quieting the saboteur voice, and finding (and finding yet again) that imaginary ‘non-negotiable’ prioritization line under which incoming tasks/requests can and should be deleted.
* The advantages of making the use of deletion, distortion and generalization automatic
* A wealth of useful insight into team self-selection/self-design
* Tips for planning for complexity – not through actions, but instead by seeding options and evidencing outcomes
* And last but not least the importance of expressions of gratitude and appreciation, and the ease with which in can be expressed in a group so willing to share their experience, knowledge and deeply personal journeys.”

Maryanne Kmit, Scrum Master, SimKorp

My impression from ACCDK2019 was that it was a unique opportunity to discuss, share thoughts with and connect to passionate agile persons in a relaxed and psychologically safe environment. There were abundant opportunities to discuss techniques, practicalities, psychological behaviour, agile frameworks, as well as more personal development themes. Experiences and opinions were shared in constructive ways. I plan on visiting the coach camp again and can recommend it to experienced agile coaches and to people with a limited agile experience alike..
